Every child learns at their own pase.  This will be acknowledged when teaching.  Every child will be offered any additional assistance they may need.

It is given that the children will have a general understanding of these areas once they are of age to be enrolled into kindergarten. 

Like mentioned before there is no set timeline on when each skill should be mastered.

Language Arts Curriculum

Pre-Reading Skills      

                              -Recognize letters and sounds
                              -Use concepts of print: left to right / top to bottom
                              -Generate word families and rhyming words 
                              -Identify all uppercase and lower case letters

Comprehension

                      -Retell a simple story with a beginning, middle, and end
                      -Make predictions
                      -Identify characters, setting, and main idea of story
                      -Read basic sight words
                      -Understand the difference between fantasy and reality

Writing                      

                                -Practice practical writing
                                -Print first name and last name
                                -Print alphabet letters legibly without a model
                                -Write from left to right and from top to bottom

Speaking and Listening
                         

                          -Speak clearly and expressively
                          -Listen thoughtfully and respectfully to others
                          -Present ideas using complete sentences
                         -Understand and follow multi-step directions
                         -Express wants and needs
                         -Contribute to class discussions & activities
                         -Orally state days of the week and months of the year
                         -Identify the eight basic colors & corresponding words

Science Curriculum
                        

                        -Observe and describe objects in their environment

Math Curriculum
                            -Sort and classify objects by position, shape, size etc.
